Sancta Vineyard
Historically significant, Sancta was the first vineyard planted in the now-blue chip Bannockburn region. Sancta’s obvious physical attributes of site, sunlight and slopes led it to be the first land purchased specifically for the planting of grapes in Bannockburn and the entire Cromwell Basin at a time when there were only 16 hectares of vines planted in Central Otago.
Our jewel in the crown
A rich mosaic of numerous blocks and terraces, with old vine plantings of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris and newer plantings of Gamay, and, audaciously, the Italian alpine varietals of Lagrein, Dolcetto and Barbera, Sancta is a very special place.
As the original vineyard of Bannockburn, Sancta's vine age and site produce wines of significance, possessing depth, complexity and ageing potential.
Sustaining Sancta
Our vineyard practices encourage and preserve the existing ecosystem through organic techniques such as sowing cover crops and using our team of animal friends for a number of tasks.
