Mysterious Diggings
The name given to the mysterious Bannockburn gold diggings by local children, we loved its resonance with the mystery and history that is central to wine and to Terra Sancta. Our highest altitude vineyard, on sandy soils produces Pinot Noir that is as vibrant and pure as the site.
Digging into Sandy Soils
The steep slopes of Mysterious Diggings are as interesting as the name. Sandy soils are fragile. Possessing high aerative properties and both low water retention and compaction, what little our vines produce is a thing of beauty. And yet, in some ways, the mystery of these sandy soils remains unsolved - what is clear, Mysterious Diggings Pinot is always delicious!
100% Pinot Noir, Mysterious Diggings sandy soils and steep slopes result in Pinot Noir characterised by violets, red fruit and star anise, with a line of purity running through tannin that is textured like snowflakes.
